Mizzou GPC Second Interdisciplinary Case Competition 2025

Welcome to one of the most exciting academic events of the year, the Mizzou GPC Second Annual Interdisciplinary Case Competition 2025, proudly organized by the University of Missouri Graduate Professional Council (GPC).

This year’s competition focuses on the University of Missouri Campus Transportation Initiative, providing participants with an opportunity to tackle real-world challenges related to improving campus mobility, safety, and sustainability.

Competition Objectives

The GPC Interdisciplinary Case Competition aims to:

  • Foster Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Encourage participants from diverse academic backgrounds to work together, leveraging varied perspectives and skills to develop innovative solutions.
  • Enhance Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills: Challenge teams to analyze complex, real-world issues and devise practical, well-reasoned strategies.
  • Promote Ethical Decision-Making: Instill integrity in participants by emphasizing ethical implications in their solutions.
  • Stimulate Innovation and Creativity: Inspire participants to think outside the box and propose transformative ideas for lasting impact.
  • Facilitate Networking and Industry Exposure: Provide participants with valuable professional connections through events such as the Networking Reception and exposure to real-world industry practices.

Competition Overview

Who Can Participate: Undergraduate, graduate, and professional students enrolled at Mizzou.
Team Size: Minimum of 2, maximum of 4 members.

Prizes

  • 1st Place: $500 per team member. (Sponsored by MU Parking & Transportation).
  • 2nd Place: $300 per team member.
  • 3rd Place: $200 per team member.
  • Additional recognition for the 4th and 5th place teams.
  • Faculty/Staff advisors of the winning teams will also be recognized.

2025 Competition Timeline

  • Registration Deadline: December 15, 2024 (Closed).
  • Case Release: December 30, 2024, at 5:00 PM.
  • Info Session: January 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM (via Zoom, recording available upon request).
  • Case Report Submission Deadline: January 19, 2025, at 5:00 PM.
  • Day 1 – Preliminary Presentations & Networking Dinner: January 22, 2025, 1:00 PM–6:00 PM (Stotler Lounge, Memorial Student Union).
  • Day 2 – Final Presentations: January 23, 2025, 12:00 PM–4:00 PM (Neff Hall, Room 204).

Judging Panel

  • The panel will consist of faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
  • Chief Judge: Representative from MU Parking & Transportation.

How to Participate

  1. Team Registration: Complete the online form, providing team leader credentials, team name, member details, and advisor information by December 15, 2024.
  2. Case Release & Info Session: Receive the case on December 17, 2024, and attend the Info Session on January 14, 2025, for guidance.
  3. Work on the Case: Develop your solutions and submit the case report by January 19, 2025.
  4. Preliminary Rounds: Present your case during the preliminary rounds on January 22, 2025.
  5. Final Presentations: Top five teams compete in the final round on January 23, 2025.
